The board also makes suggestions regarding content for upcoming issues.

Individual board members have also written for the magazine.


Juan David Coronado

Central Connecticut State University


PhD, History, Texas Tech University, 2013. Juan is an associate professor of history and the coordinator of the Latino and Puerto Rican Studies minor at CCSU. In his award-winning book, "I'm Not Gonna Die in this Damn Place”: Manliness, Identity, and Survival of the Mexican American Vietnam Prisoner of War (2018), Coronado shares the oral histories of Mexican American POWs.

William Mann

Author, historian


BA, History, CCSU, 1984; MA, Liberal Studies (History and Film), Wesleyan University, 1988. William is a New York Times-bestselling author of several books on film and political history, including The Contender and The Wars of the Roosevelts. He is the recipient of the Edgar Allan Poe Award for his book Tinseltown and the Lambda Literary Award for Wisecracker. He is an adjunct professor of history at CCSU where he teaches LGBTQ History.

Marie McDaniel

BA, History, Princeton University, 2001; PhD, University of California, 2010. Marie is an associate professor of history at Southern Connecticut State University. Her teaching and research interests include pre-Revolutionary American history and 18th-century religion, gender, and ethnicity.

Fiona Vernal

BA, History, Princeton University, 1995; PhD, African History, Yale University, 2004. Fiona is an associate professor of history and Africana studies and director of EPOCH: Engaged Public, Oral, and Community Histories at the University of Connecticut.
